      Just a couple of thoughts...

      Are you feeding the input as stereo, i.e. to both L and R on the input?

      Could there be any chance of some sort of loop, is there an isolation
      transformer on the input of the sound card?

      Is Jack installed?

      The inverted signal is certainly unusual.
