      Hi all,
This is my first time setting up a radio with a soundcard/CAT interface, apologies in advance for the noob questions...

Got a brand new rigexpert-standard (with factory cable), Fldigi 3.21.3, and ic-7000.xml file. I get good info in the waterfall display, which responds to the IN1 pot on the front panel. Audio looks good.

      Can't get CAT working.

      Here's the debug log:

      D: [20:55:06] rigcontrol/rigio.cxx:88: FE FE 70 E0 1A 03 FD
      D: [20:55:06] rigcontrol/rigio.cxx:103: reply FE FE 70 E0 1A 03 FD
      D: [20:55:06] rigcontrol/rigio.cxx:88: FE FE 70 E0 1A 03 FD
      D: [20:55:06] rigcontrol/rigio.cxx:103: reply FE FE 70 E0 1A 03 FD
      W: [20:55:06] rigcontrol/rigio.cxx:727: Retries failed
      D: [20:55:06] rigcontrol/rigio.cxx:88: FE FE 70 E0 04 FD
      D: [20:55:06] rigcontrol/rigio.cxx:103: reply FE FE 70 E0 04 FD
      D: [20:55:06] rigcontrol/rigio.cxx:88: FE FE 70 E0 04 FD
      D: [20:55:06] rigcontrol/rigio.cxx:103: reply FE FE 70 E0 04 FD
      W: [20:55:06] rigcontrol/rigio.cxx:555: Retries failed
      D: [20:55:06] rigcontrol/rigio.cxx:88: FE FE 70 E0 03 FD
      D: [20:55:06] rigcontrol/rigio.cxx:103: reply FE FE 70 E0 03 FD
      V: [20:55:06] rigcontrol/rigio.cxx:351: sendCommand failed

If I move to another com port, the reply line goes away, so I'm hitting the right interface. Jacking with the speed will make things faster/slower, but not better.

Dropped the speed down to 300, but otherwise the 7000 is at the default values for CAT.

      Fldigi config notes:
      Hardware PTT off
      Hamlib off
      RigCAT on
      ic-7000.xml
      retry 1
      r int 5
      w del 50
      dev com4
      baud 300
      stop 2
      commands echoed
      CAT command for PTT
      ALL OTHER CHECKBOXES ARE CLEARED

The CAT light is lit on the front panel of the rigexpert.

      Where to look next?

      Thanks!

Set the baud rate and timing to what is in the xml. Try again and
capture the debug log and post the results. Make sure you do not have
        auto baud enabled.

I'll edit the file for a supported baud rate and retry.

          Thanks!

If it's a new radio you probably have learned the menus yet. I've had my IC-7000 2 years and I haven't. Look on page 136 of the radio's manual at CI-V baud rate, then figure out how to get there on the radio.

I run mine at 4800 baud, I'm not sure why, but it works. My baud rate in the radio is set to auto.

Try setting the same rate in fldig's config menu, the xml file, and the radio. Pay attention to parity and stop bits if that's available. Most things these days use 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity.

The CI-V address should be 70 or 0x70, I don't think CI-V Transceive matters but mine is on.
