  • Andy, Can you provide a little more information. Such as which model you have, which version of linux, and what happens when you run startx? • I don't have rh 7, but with 6.2 you could boot from the CD with linux using the rescue option. Here is a link to a message that someone used the rescue to put lilo back in the mbr. Even if you weren't using lilo before, you should be able to configure it to boot. http://mlug.missouri.edu/list-archives/2000-12/msg00330.php3 Good luck, Dan On 2001.02.02 17:10:45 -0700 Tiina Tolonen...

  • As far as I can tell, the problem is not with linux, but with the docking station. I get the same behavior in both RH6.2 and Win2K. I have seen others posts about this problem, but no solution yet. • OK. Next question. What does linuxconf show for the card? Does it show eth0 enabled? If not, then enable it. See if that works. If it is set up already, then check your /etc/conf.modules and make sure there is an entry for eth0. I have a page that talks a little about the ethernet for the port replicator. You can find it at http://www.digitaltsunami.net/linux/dellcsx.html. The page...

  • One thing is missing. Just sits where? Will it not boot or is it just the network is unavailable? If just the network, what does ifconfig say? Does it show the NIC up and running? • I don't know how much different you want the configs to be, but I have written a small script that determines location based on MAC address and sets up the box appropriately. I put the call to script in rc.local and it seems to work fine. You can find the script at http://www.digitaltsunami.net/linux/index.html#files Hope it helps, Dan -----Original Message----- From: Monk@^$1...

  • I don't know about the mach 64, but the Neomagic just requires you to add the extern_disp option. I have two XF86Config files. One for docked and one for undocked. Here is the relevant section in my docked XF86Config file: Section "Device" Identifier "Neomagic" VendorName "NeoMagic" BoardName "256ZX" VideoRam 4096 Chipset "NM2200" Option "extern_disp" # Insert Clocks lines here if...
