LS 120 Set Up on I7500?
I got a brand new Inspiron 7500 G700YT with new SuSE Linux 6.4.
Unfortunately I cant seem to set up the LS 120 to mount at all.
I want to create a boot disk. My LS120 is mapped to the
2nd ide as the primary (hdc). DVD ROM is the secondary is the 2nd
ide (hdd), and as usual 18GB HDD is (hda).
When I put Windows formatted floppy disk in the LS 120
drive and tried :
mount -t vfat /dev/hdc0 /ls120
It failed. "/dev/hdc0 is not a block device.".
Yet the disk works fine in Windows 98.
I found that I can create a some form of
untested boot disk with
dd if=/vmlinuz of=/dev/hdc0 bs=18k
I can read it back with
dd if=/dev/hdc0 of=/tmp/readback
cmp /vmlinuz /tmp/readback ; echo $?
Prints 0 so in theory it works.
