- not so much a linux on laptop problem as a linux problem, but this
seems like a good place for it.
I just re-partitioned part of my hard drive to have a shared partition
between winMe and RH7.1 for music and important files, etc. The
problem arises when i try to play my mp3's in linux.
i tried using xmms to play my music and after opening the program 5
times or so, it would no longer work. when i try to play anything, it
just freezes and i can't kill the application. however, it appears
that if i'm logged in as root this doesn't occur, just when i'm a
user. So, i removed xmms and installed freeamp. the exact same thing
happened - it froze after 5 or so uses.
has anyone seen this before? it seems rather odd to me. i'm sure its
not a permissions thing since i did access the files a few times.
hope someone can help. this is pretty annoying.
