      I just checked - there's no sign of multi finger taps working in
      windows either. For the record I mean when you tap with two fingers at

      I think the option to enable this is:

              Option "TapButton2" "2"

      With some experimentation I have found a workaround but it's not ideal.

      You can enable a button to be emulated when you make a corner tap - so
      I replaced the bottom left corner tap with a button-2 press:

              Option "LBCornerButton" "2"

      But I can't get the two-finger tap working on the Inspiron 6000.

      The README for the Synaptics touchpad driver (eg.
      http://www.polarhome.com:793/doc/synaptics-0.13.5/README ) says:

      "Note also
      that some functions are not available on all touchpad models, because
      they need support from the touchpad hardware/firmware. (Multifinger
      taps for example.)"

      So I think that unless the Alps touchpad firmware can be upgraded
      (presumably from windows), then we're stuck.
