Hi, I think for most Dell laptops (at least 1100 and 5100), ACPI events are not triggered (reading /proc/interrupts give 0 interrupts for ACPI). There is a proposed fix for this bug in the kernel bugzilla: http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1752 which says: 1) upgrade bios 2) add acpi_irq_balance as boot parameter. People have reported success with 5100 with BIOS A38 (http://cabibbo.physics.wm.edu/~bryan/computer/inspiron5100.html claims to have success for A28). I am stuck on my Inspiron 1100 since Dell hasnt released any BIOS update after A32 and my I dont get any events trying this method on A32. If anybody else has Inspiron 1100, can he/she try booting with acpi_irq_balance and reporting if the interrupt count in /proc/interrupts for ACPI increases when the lid is closed or power button is pressed. TIA, - d.
