= Not at all. Nor Inspiron 8500 neither Inspiron 8600 have got any PS2
      = port. And I miss it :(

I would miss it too. I have a KVM switch so that I can plug four
computers into one "console" (mouse, keyboard, and monitor). But this
KVM switch accepts only PS/2 for mouse and keyboard. So I won't be able
to plug this laptop into the KVM and my desk will have to hold two
keyboards and two mice. Perhaps... does the port replicator for the
i600m have PS/2 ports for mouse & keyboard???

Thanks to everyone for their informative replies.
