        Hi,

I have the same model of laptop an DVD burner. Usually the same happens
to me, I can not burn at 4x. However, I can burn CDRW at 2.4x!! After
goggling a bit I have found that this DVD burner is a little bit
'special' and only recognise certain media as 4x. Usually it refuses and
burns everything at 2x. Apparently, you only have to find a proper
medium, but I haven't succeeded yet.

        Regards.

          hi,

the solution is very simpel. just install the newest k3b. i had the same
problem, but now i can burn with 4x speed.

another thing is, that you can install an unofficial, hacked firmware with
which it is possible to burn dvd-r/rw also. here is the link:

              hi,

sorry, that this answer took so long. i can burn dvd+r and -r without any
problems under windows. under linux with k3b i had a problem, when selecting
4x speed, but i think this is a k3b issue and will be fixed in one of the
next versions. sry, havent tested it with any other burning app.

              best regards
