      Hello,

      After reading a lot of the encouraging posts in this mailing list, I
      decided to convert my Inspiron 4100 over to Mandrake 9.2.

      The installation went very smoothly... except for the wireless card.
      I have a TrueMovile 1150 that worked fine under Win2K. Mandrake
      detects the card, but somehow doesn't seem to initialize it
      correctly at boot time.

      These are the syslog messages I get related to eth1 (eth0 is the
      built-in ethernet card):
      Nov 28 19:14:44 localhost kernel: eth1: Station identity
      001f:0001:0006:0010
      Nov 28 19:14:44 localhost kernel: eth1: Looks like a Lucent/Agere
      firmware version 6.16
      Nov 28 19:14:44 localhost kernel: eth1: Ad-hoc demo mode supported
      Nov 28 19:14:44 localhost kernel: eth1: IEEE standard IBSS ad-hoc
      mode supported
      Nov 28 19:14:44 localhost kernel: eth1: WEP supported, 104-bit key
      Nov 28 19:14:44 localhost kernel: eth1: MAC address

      Nov 28 19:14:44 localhost kernel: eth1: Station name "HERMES I"

      [so far, it looks good I think]

      Nov 28 19:14:31 localhost mandrake_everytime: Starting netprofile:
      succeeded
      [this is where it starts screwing up]
      Nov 28 19:14:38 localhost network: Setting network parameters:
      succeeded
      Nov 28 19:14:39 localhost network: Bringing up loopback interface:
      succeeded
      Nov 28 19:14:39 localhost ifup: Determining IP information for
      eth0...
      Nov 28 19:14:40 localhost dhclient: DHCPREQUEST on eth0 to
      255.255.255.255 port 67
      Nov 28 19:14:41 localhost dhclient: bound to 192.168.1.104 --
      renewal in 912988 seconds.
      Nov 28 19:14:41 localhost ifup: done.
      Nov 28 19:14:41 localhost network: Bringing up interface eth0:
      succeeded
      Nov 28 19:14:41 localhost ifup: orinoco_cs device eth1 does not seem
      to be present, delaying initialization.
      Nov 28 19:14:41 localhost network: Bringing up interface eth1:
      failed
      Nov 28 19:14:41 localhost internet: Checking internet connections to
      start at boot succeeded

      Any ideas what might be wrong? Here are my
      /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1 file:
      DEVICE=eth1
      BOOTPROTO=dhcp
      NETMASK=255.255.255.0
      ONBOOT=yes
      HWADDR=00:02:2d:5d:72:7e
      MII_NOT_SUPPORTED=no
      WIRELESS_MODE=Ad-hoc
      WIRELESS_ESSID=mirvilightwireless
      NEEDHOSTNAME=yes

      (It used to be WIRELESS_MODE=Managed, but I decided to try Ad-hoc
      since the log said it was supported--same result with both though).

      Any help would be appreciated. I'm pretty new to Linux, so I might
      be missing something obvious.
      Thanks!
