      hi y'all

since i upgraded my XFree86 to 4.0.1-RC3 my dri support doesn't work
anymore. it claims, my drm is to old:

      ..
(0): [drm] created "r128" driver at busid "PCI:1:0:0"
(0): [drm] added 4096 byte SAREA at 0xc82bb000
      (0): [drm] mapped SAREA 0xc82bb000 to 0x40017000
      (0): [drm] framebuffer handle = 0xf8000000
(0): [drm] added 1 reserved context for kernel
      (EE) R128(0): R128DRIScreenInit failed (DRM version = 1.0.0, expected
      2.1.x). Disabling DRI.
(0): [drm] failed to remove DRM signal handler
(0): [drm] removed 1 reserved context for kernel
      DRIUnlock called when not locked
(0): [drm] unmapping 4096 bytes of SAREA 0xc82bb000 at 0x40017000
      ..

i compiled linux-2.4.0-test12 but it seems, r128 is still in version
      1.0:

Linux agpgart interface v0.99 (c) Jeff Hartmann
agpgart: Maximum main memory to use for agp memory: 203M
      agpgart: Detected Intel 440BX chipset
      agpgart: AGP aperture is 64M @ 0xe0000000
      [drm] AGP 0.99 on Intel 440BX @ 0xe0000000 64MB
      [drm] Initialized r128 1.0.0 20000928 on minor 63

did anyone else encounter similar problems or am i the only one - this
far it sure googles like it ;-(!

      cheers, fabian

      my data:

in case anyone is interested. the version conflict can be solved, by
upgrading the r128.o module. this is done by getting the cvs dri
distribution (or the xfree401) from dri.sourceforge.net and making the
World. the new module appears in
        /build/xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/os-support/linux/drm/kernel/

        cheers, fabian
