I would get in touch with Dell. I deal a lot with Dell products at work. They are very good with customer support. Especially if you just bought the laptop.

      HI guys,

This question is not really relatd to linux. I'm just desperate to
find help from this list. I have laptop inspiron 8100. I found that
it was very hot either on windows 2000 or on red hat 7.1. The fans
      are still not moving.

      I found some utilities (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/linux-dell-
laptops/message/10724) on this list to control the fans. My main
concern is that the hot laptop is caused by the setting bios or the
fans or whatever (I hope the fans are not defective).

Can somebody give me advice how to use the bios or other tools so
that to keep the laptop cool, or to test if the fans are working?
which will also be working on windows 2000, I assume.

      Thanks,

      Yongchao
