The Threads Connection
June Events and Classes
We are offering some interesting classes here at Threads this month.
June 13 & 14 our new series of classes called Techniques Squared will begin. This class will be offered every other week on Wednesday mornings at 11:00-1:00 and Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30. Our first Tx2 will cover 2 color knitting using slipped stitches. This is an excellent way to play with adding more color to your work. The class fee is $10, discounted punch cards for this series will also be available. Our instructor is Salli Sternberg. Salli figures she has been knitting for 150 years. How? you ask? Come in and find out--She is delightfully funny!
June 16 Shawn Stoner will offer a class on Steeks. This is a techniqe often seen used when making Fair Isle sweaters. It allows you to knit in the round, and then go back to insert sleeves. It would work for cables or multi color pattern work. This class will take place on Saturday June 16 from 1:00-3:00. The fee is $20.
Wednesday June 20 from 11:00-1:00 Salli will offer a Finishing Class. The key to beautiful knitting is often in the details and finishing. This class will give you the confidence to complete your projects. Class fee $20.
Saturday June 30th Shawn will teach a class covering Cast Ons and Bind offs. He will explain several, and tell you when and why they work best. Class fee $20.
Friday June 1st The HWGL hosts their annual Rug Show at the Burkholder Project. Many of the artists will be there Friday evening to open their show. Their work will be on display for the month of June. Saturday June 9 is National Knit in Public Day. The Lincoln Knitters will gather from 8am until noon in the Farmers Market. So bring your knitting and a chair and join in the fun! Both these events will be held in Lincoln's Historic Haymarket. This week's photo is of the Lincoln Knitters. For more information visit their web site www.LincolnKnitters.org.
Gladys continues to make steady progress in her recovery. Her speech is returning. She is able to ambulate using a walker. Gladys will be at Bryan LGH-West until June 14th. Thank you for all of your thoughfulness. Please continue to keep Gladys in your prayers.
My family leaves for New Zealand June 7th. We will be touring this beautiful coutry to visit family, friends, yarn shops, sheep farms and micro-breweries. I plan to do A LOT of knitting on the 14 hour flight! I'll be back June 24th.
