LWV Friday Forum this week
- Susan Bennett, Executive Director of the Lexington
Historical Society, will share her vision of the
future of the Historical Society at the League of
Women Voters First Friday coffee on Friday, June 3.
Since 1886, the Society has been charged with
preserving the history of Lexington and, with the
renovation of the Depot Building nearly complete, the
Society will have a new place to showcase some of the
its treasures and present educational programs on the
rich history of our community.
Ms. Bennett, a Lexington resident, is the first
full-time Executive Director of the Lexington
Historical Society. She has a background in business
and law as well as a degree in Archive Management.
Before joining the Society, Ms. Bennett was the
archivist for the Bedford Historical Society.
This is the ninth program in the 2004-05 series of
First Friday forums hosted by the League of Women
Voters of Lexington to promote awareness and
understanding of public policy issues. The June 3
coffee will start at 9:30 a.m. in the Community
Meeting Room in the lower level of Cary Memorial
Library and is open to the public at no charge.
