      A preview of ECHL games for Monday, Jan. 21, 2013

      Greenville Road Warriors (25-14-4) at Gwinnett Gladiators (26-15-2)                  12:30 p.m. ET 

      ·     Greenville’s Bretton Cameron is on a four-game goal streak since Jan. 12 (6g).

      ·     Casey Pierro-Zabotel leads Gwinnett against the Road Warriors with 13 points (4g-9a).

      ·     Road Warriors are tied for fourth with eight shorthanded goals.

      ·     Gladiators are 23-1-2 when scoring first.  

       

      Elmira Jackals (20-17-4) at Reading Royals (28-9-4)                                             1:05 p.m. ET 

      ·     Elmira’s Dustin Gazley is tied for seventh with 44 points (11g-33a).

      ·     Joel Champagne leads Reading against the Jackals with nine points (4g-5a).

      ·     Jackals are 14-2-1 when leading after two periods.

      ·     Royals are fourth on the penalty kill at home at 88.2 percent (75-for-85).  

       

      Wheeling Nailers (18-14-7) at Orlando Solar Bears (17-20-4)                                3 p.m. ET 

      ·     Paul Crowder leads Wheeling with 15 goals and 32 points.

      ·     Orlando’s John Curry is tied for third with 15 wins.

      ·     Nailers are fifth on the power play at 21.2 percent (32-for-151).

      ·     Solar Bears are 11-0-1 when leading after two periods.  

       

      Idaho Steelheads (24-10-5) at Utah Grizzlies (15-17-5)                                           1:05 p.m. MT 

      ·     Andrew Carroll leads Idaho against the Grizzlies with three goals and six points.

      ·     Utah’s Riley Armstrong has six points (1g-5a) in his last four games.

      ·     Steelheads have outscored their opponents 52-35 in the second period.

      ·     Grizzlies are second with 32.68 shots per game.  

       

      Bakersfield Condors (12-27-3) at Ontario Reign (28-10-3)                         1:05 p.m. PT 

      ·     Jacob Lagace leads Bakersfield against the Reign with three goals.

      ·     Ontario’s Jean-Francois Berube is sixth with a 2.32 goals-against average.

      ·     Condors are sixth on the power play on the road at 19.4 percent (21-for-108).

      ·     Reign are 22-1-3 when scoring first. 

        

      Alaska Aces (31-10-1) at Las Vegas Wranglers (17-17-4)                                     2:05 p.m. PT 

      ·     Alaska’s Nick Mazzolini is second with eight game-winning goals.

      ·     Andrew Sarauer leads Las Vegas against the Aces with three points (1g-2a).

      ·     Aces are first with 2.50 goals-against per game.

      ·     Wranglers are 8-0-1 when leading after two periods.

      • The ECHL celebrates its 25th Anniversary in 2012-13 and is the third-longest tenured professional hockey league behind only the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League.

      • ECHL began in 1988-89 with five teams in four states and has grown to be a coast-to-coast league with 23 teams in 16 states in 2012-13.

      • The league officially changed its name from East Coast Hockey League to ECHL on May 19, 2003.

      491 players have played in the NHL after playing in the ECHL including 23 in 2011-12.

      • Former Cincinnati Cyclones forward Cory Conacher was the first former ECHL player to make his NHL debut in 2012-13 with Tampa Bay on Jan. 19.

      • The ECHL has had 299 players reach the NHL since 2002-03 when it changed its focus to become the primary developmental league for the NHL and the AHL. The ECHL had 97 players reach the NHL in its first 10 seasons and 215 in the first 15 years.

      • 235 ECHL players have played their first game in the last eight seasons for an average of more than 29 per year.

      • ECHL had a record 87 players on NHL opening-day rosters in 2012-13, surpassing the 81 from 2011-12 and marking the 10th year in a row that there have been over 50 former ECHL players on opening-day rosters.
