      April 1, 2010

      Like clockwork

Few players in the NHL have diligently worked their way through the ranks like Tomas Plekanec, who has gone from a third-round draft pick to the Habs' leading point-getter in only a matter of years.

Chosen 71st overall by Canadiens in 2001, Plekanec has already suited up for 387 games over six seasons. Not one to often take a sick day, Pleky has missed only four games since 2006-07 and is joined by just Josh Gorges as the only Habs players to have yet to miss a game this year.

Coming off a season that he himself had written off as a disaster despite notching 20 goals, Plekanec is enjoying a career year with 68 points in 76 games so far, good enough to crack the NHL's Top 25 scorers.

Consistent as they come for the most part, Pleky has posted four straight 20-plus goal seasons to date, making him the first Habs centerman to manage that feat since Bobby Smith did it from 1985-86 through 1988-89. Plekanec also recently hit the 100-goal mark by scoring into an empty net against the Panthers on March 25.

With five games still to go in the regular season, Plekanec is just two points shy of setting a new career high, but he can be excused for being more preoccupied with leading the Habs into the playoffs for a third-straight spring.

      See for yourself
Haven't visited the Canadiens Hall of Fame yet? What better than a trip to the Bell Centre to get fired up for the playoffs by learning all there is to know about your Habs? More.

      Wizard or Ninja?
Maybe this debate has never occurred to you, but watch the Habs weigh in on whether they'd prefer waving a wand or wielding a pair of deadly nun chucks. See it!

Walk a mile in their shoes
On Saturday, April 10, 2010, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Canadiens will be holding a used equipment sale at the Bell Centre. Game-used sticks, gloves, skates, helmets, pants and jerseys will be available. Click here for more details.

      Down to the wire
