Gerry and Alix arrive from
New York hoping for a relaxing week on the Maine coast. It is clear
from the start however
that they have differnent agendas: Gerry more interested in studying
his lines for an
upcoming play than spending quality time with his girlfriend. Alix is
also cast in the play, but
her mind is elsewhere - on a place she hopes Gerry can focus on, too.
Just as tensions are
boiling over, Bud and June enter. Though they are from the mid-west
they might as well have
descended from space as far as Gerry and Alix are concerned. What
ensues is a comedy of
social and sexual manners, pregnant with sad and sinister undertones
that births a surprise in
the end.

[ALIX] (27-30) Gerry's girlfriend of four years. She can hang with
Gerry's intellect but his
games and 'dodging' of the moment has worn her patience thin. She is
beatiful with a
sophistication superior to Gerry's. In her look, as well as in
attitude, runs the vein of New
England 'old money.' Her mind is distinctly elsewhere as if working
on the puzzle picture of her

A model of the 'Dumb
American' while at the same time possessing an air of danger and

[TOM MCBRIDE] Late 30's to mid-40's, Tom is a hard-working family man
and the
manager of a Grand Union supermarket on Long Island. He is constantly
caught in
the middle of a hurricane which seems to start at the kitchen table
of his East
Meadow home. His neighbor-feuding wife Pat just opened a Curves Gym
franchise,
which makes her, among other things, now a health expert – a health
expert who
sneaks smokes, coffee cake, and the occasional wine cooler behind the
gym's
dumpster. Tom also has to deal with his belligerent 16 year old
daughter Meaghan,
his inept contractor brother Joey, and his recently retired father
Al, who is always
dragging Tom into one money-making scheme after another.
[JOEY MCBRIDE] Mid to late 30's. Tom's younger brother. He's a good-
natured,
easy-going guy who is a fairly successful general contractor on Long
Island. While
he's gifted at doing a house re-model, he's a little dim when it
comes to seeing
what's going on with his family, such as his wife, who is having an
affair with a Home
Depot employee, and his teenage son, who wears make-up and spends all
his money
on muscle magazines.
[PAT MCBRIDE] Pat, (mid to late 30's), Tom's wife and the mother of
teenager
Meaghan, is a strong, attractive woman. She's the proud owner of a
new Curves gym
franchise, which makes her, among other things, an expert on health.
This doesn't
stop her from sneaking behind the dumpster for the occasional smoke,

shifting market, he considers selling his land to Sara's family.

SYNOPSIS: "Winter Of Frozen Dreams" is the unbelievably true story of
Barbara
Hoffman, a film noir love story" based on the book by Karl Harter. On
Christmas
morning, 1977, a shipping clerk named Jerry Davies wanders into a
Wisconsin police
department and tells the police he helped his girlfriend, Barbara
Hoffman, bury a
body in a snow bank. He takes the police to the outskirts of town
where they
discover the body- naked and severely beaten around the head and
genitals. The big
question is who killed him and why? Jerry, a desperate middle-aged
loner and his
fiancée, Barbara, a brash young, sexy, straight A student make for an
odd couple.
But nothing is as it seems: Barbara's also a prostitute at a local
massage parlor
whose owner may be framing her for the murder. There's an insurance
scam, a
poisoning scheme and a mystery woman – and Jerry may have set the
whole thing
up. Barbara gets charged with the murder, based mostly on Jerry's
initial statement
but that following Easter, just weeks before Barbara's trial, Jerry
is found dead in his
bathtub. So it's up to the lead detective and the DA to piece it all
together. Racing
against the clock, they discover that both men were killed with
cyanide. Barbara is
convicted for one of the murders, but probably the wrong one. The
case was the first
televised murder trial and launched the political career of the DA
Jim Doyle, who
went on to become Wisconsin's current Governor. Barbara still sits in
prison and
refuses to go before the parole board.

STORY LINE: When 5-year-old Alex's parents give her a beautiful
princess doll for
Christmas, but forbid her from opening the package because it is a
collectible, she
becomes determined to open it and free the princess.
Alex lives with her parents, Kent and Babs, in a Stepford-like
Midwestern suburb.
Mom and Dad are completely out of touch with Alex's interests,
absorbed instead
with their obsessions (Mom adores sheep, Dad is into trains) and
their routine,
middle-of-the-road lives. Neither Kent nor Babs have a sense of
personal style or unborrowed
opinions, but accept the status quo fed to them by popular TV,
Reader's
Digest, QVC and Home Improvement channels. Alex hasn't started school
and
therefore has not been exposed to the outside world, only the
strangely warped
world of her parents, who have stuffed their home with collectibles
and treat her like
one as well. The story explores the moment she starts challenging her
parents'
authority and coming into her own consciousness.
