- Wanted to send this out as a Last Minute reminder:
The post office reminds us that the end of year celebrations are approaching. The sun is sinking in the northern hemisphere and we must eat, drink, and be merry for if we are bury ourselves deep in winters cold the sun may leave and never come back. So set off some firecrackers, dig up the turnips, unleash the sun captured in the corn, the wine, the spirits, and have at the winter until it cracks wide open and spring comes charging in. Should your winter fancy turn to books, please note we do not guarantee holiday shipping after these post office-provided dates (https://www.usps.com/holiday/welcome.htm#calendar-december).
Our ebooks (http://weightlessbooks.com) are always availableas well as titles from many many interesting indie publishers such as the first new book in many years from one of Kelly's favorite authors, R. A. MacAvoy's Death and Resurrection (http://weightlessbooks.com/format/death-and-resurrection).

Delia Sherman's THE FREEDOM MAZE is getting excellent reviews and flying off the shelves. You should pick up a first edition while you can! Kirkus Reviews picked it for the Best of 2011 list. We may have some great news on the audio version soon! Here's one review:
"The Freedom Maze is, frankly, a stunning book on every level."
Maureen F. McHugh new collection AFTER THE APOCALYPSE: STORIES is a verifiable hit!
It was in the Top 10 of Publishers Weekly Best Books 2011 which was just more thrilling than I can say:
and it's a LA Times Holiday Picks
and the Wall Street Journal called it "Superb":
And . . . Recorded Books have picked up the audio book!
Other news: Kathe Koja's novel UNDER THE POPPY received the Gaylactic Spectrum Award and was nominated for the massive IMPAC Award: whoopee! Kathe just handed in the sequel, THE MERCURY WALTZ, which will be out late in 2012.
Read a guest post from Kathe on the live show for UNDER THE POPPY here:
Earlier this year we celebrated Plaid Fridayand today the American Booksellers Association reported that indie bookstore sales were up 15.5% over last year for that holiday weekend and their websites' sales were up 60%: go indies!
Of course Am*zon are being even more ruthless and anti-indie than ever. We hope that you will shop indie this holiday season: and throughout 2012! I want to keep my local bookstore, hardware store, pharmacy, bakery, grocery coop (shout out to http://rivervalleymarket.coop), etc., in business, employing my neighbors, not just the delivery folks.
Julie Day, fabulous volunteer, has started a new Small Beer podcast. Next week's has two stories from THREE MESSAGES AND A WARNING: Contemporary Mexican Stories of the Fantastic (which comes out next month). Here are links to the previous eps
Bonus link: There's a new audiobook of Ben Parzybok's COUCH, yay!
We just signed a new book: a new collection from Elizabeth Hand, ERRANTRY: STORIES. Not sure when it will be scheduled yet but it joins new collections from Kij Johnson and Nancy Kress (along with our super secret Selected Stories from a favorite author!) on the TK list. Yay for more books, yay!
