The current discussion of a Tolkienian LDB has been both interesting and
productive, and the (proper) compilation of such a database will be an
invaluable tool for scholarship. However, the posts on this topic have reached
a point where the discussion is becoming more about computer programming
than Tolkienian linguistics, and the primary focus of this group is "the
scholarly study and discussion of the invented languages of J.R.R. Tolkien." I
am therefore requesting that the primary parties involved continue their
detailed technical discussion of the LDB off-list. This is not a _ban_ on
the topic of the LDB, just a request that the technical stuff be hashed
over off-list; indeed, updates on the LDB's progress would be most
welcome, as would _concise_ enquiries or comments on issues arising
      in its compilation.
