Club Meeting- Shallow Water Bass and Flats Fishing by KayakThu Feb 17, 11
Join noted author and Wilderness Systems Pro Staff director Chad Hoover for an informative seminar on kayak fishing for bass and techniques on shallow water flats fishing. This seminar will cover many of Chad's concepts on:
- Pre-Trip Planning
- Locating Fish in Tough Conditions
- Adjusting to Changing Conditions
- Using Electronics and Technology
- Kayak Rigging, Accessories and Tackle Selection
- Lure Selection, Presentations and Strategy Development
After the seminar, Chad will conduct a book signing for his new book "Kayak Bass Fishing" from Helconia press.
Chad is active duty in the U.S. Navy stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. He specializes in light tackle, artificial and fly fishing from the kayak for largemouth bass and most inshore, near shore and offshore saltwater species. He is a founding member and former President of the Tidewater Kayak Anglers Association. Chad is the owner of www.KayakBassFishing.com where he shares his insights and expertise with anglers across the country. Chad is the author of "Kayak Bass Fishing" from the Heliconia Press. He is also featured in the 2nd Edition of Kayak Fishing: The Ultimate Guide. Chad writes a kayak fishing column for Bassmaster.com and contributes to several regional publications as a writer and photographer. In addition to writing, Chad conducts many seminars and kayak fishing clinics throughout the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic and serves as the Pro Staff director for Wilderness Systems, Torqeedo Motors and Secret Weapon Lures.

Weigh-In: 3 p.m. till
Legal Launch - Fishing Time: 6:30 a.m.- 3 p.m.
Tackle: Artificial Baits Only.
Entry: $25 (+ $1.25 via Paypal)
Registration: Deadline is Fri Feb 18 at 11:59 p.m.
Pre-Tournament Meeting (optional): Q&A @ Thurs Feb 17 Club Meeting, Pack and Paddle, 6 pm or post ?'s on Tournament Forum on website.
Legal Stringer: SLAM (Series Points)- The angler with the heaviest combined SLAM weight wins. A bonus 2 pounds of weight is added to the overall weight to any contestant that weighs a 3-Fish SLAM.
Eligible fish: Speckled Trout, Redfish, Flounder. You may enter a 3-Fish SLAM or a 2-Fish SLAM. No more than 1 per species is allowed for either. Redfish may not exceed 27”. Trout- 12” minimum and Flounder- 10”.
2 SLAM Types:
1. 3-Fish SLAM= 1 Redfish + 1 Trout + 1 Flounder
2. 2-Fish SLAM= A duo combo of the 3 species
2 Examples of legal SLAM’s-
3# trout + 2# flounder + 4# redfish (+2lb bonus weight) = 11#
2# trout + 5lb redfish = 7#
Boundary: Lake Charles I-10 South to Cameron Jetties
Payouts: $15 goes to Tournament Pot (1st = 50% / 2nd = 30 / 3rd = 20%. ($10 goes to the Series Pot).
Food: $5 will get you a hot bowl of gumbo at weigh-in
Please note the new sign-in and weigh-in procedures:
1.1. Anglers must sign-in during the designated sign-in time, 1 hour before weigh-in. Anglers are advised to use this time to ready their catch for the weigh-in.
1.2. Weigh-in begins promptly at designated weigh-in start time. Approach the weighmaster's table when called upon.
1.3 Do not place any fish on the weighstation until asked to do so. Each fishes lenth will be measured first, then weighed and recorded. It is each anglers responsibility to remove their catch from the table
Note to anyone fishing the East side of the lake from Fred's Lounge South: The Black Bayou River Bridge on LA 384 is out of service for ~6 months. Anyone wanting to fish this area is advised to take an alternate route.
Public is welcome to participate & win prizes. Only members will receive series points. You may join the club here.

The show will be held at Pack & Paddle and will run from 10am until 3pm. Please note that our club fishing trip and demo day will be on Sunday February 27th at Lake Martin.

Acadiana Flyrodder's Conclave at Grace Pres Church on Roselawn in Lafayette. Great event if you have any interest in flyfishing. Master fly casters are on hand to give tips and help with your cast whether you are a beginner or veteran. Silent auction and talks are going on throughout the day.
Lake Martin Club Trip & DemoSun Feb 27, 11
Help wanted. Join us for an early morning club fishing trip. Around 10 AM we will get geared up for Pack and Paddle's Spring Adventure Kickoff Demo. We will have the tent out, selling baked goods and hot dogs and promoting the club. We need members to help with the following:
Bake sweets to sell
Talk about the club
Have kayak on hand to talk with people intersted in kayak fishing
