Marla Ruzicka Who Died in Iraq Earlier this Month
Vigil and Memorial to be Held on Friday, April 29
on Behalf of Civilian Casualties of War
LOS ANGELES, CA--CodePink LA is honoring 28-year-old Marla Ruzicka and
her Iraqi colleague Faiz Ali Salimwith a vigil and memorial
commemorating their lives and work on behalf of civilian casualties of
war the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Marla, who went on CodePink's first humanitarian trip to Iraq in
February of 2003, and decided to stay to help the Iraqi people, was
killed in a car bombing in Baghdad on Saturday, April 16, 2005.
WHEN: April 29, 2005 at 5pm
WHERE: The Vigil will be held across the street from the Federal
Building in Westwood on the NW corner of Veteran and Wilshire
NOTE: Memorial to follow at 7pm, 2010 Linden Street in Venice.
Jodie Evans, co-founder of CodePink was one of the leaders of Marla's
first trip to Iraq iwill speak about her close friend and colleague.
Marla Ruzicka created the Campaign for Innocent Victims In Conflict
(CIVIC) (http://www.civicworldwide.org), to count casualties, provide
assistance, and pressure the US government to take responsibility for
the innocent civilians harmed by US forces.
A national day of vigils and memorials for Marla and Faiz will be held
around the country on Tuesday, May 3 and in Washington, DC on May 14 at
