In the midst of the struggle for justice for Mariano Ferreyra, and a police
riot in Buenos Aires just this last Friday ( see
      http://english.telam.com.ar/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=18246:metropolitan-police-put-down-borda-mental-health-hospital-workers&catid=35:domestic-affairsMetropolitan
police attacked workers viciously as a coalition of health
workers and patients attempted to stop building of offices for city
government on land expropriated from the hospital, part of the land
speculation agreement between the mayor of Buenos Aires, Macri and the
"progressive" Cristina Kirchner government; tomorrow there will be a
general strike of public employee union ATE, as well as transport workers,
in solidarity and protest against the riot; will send longer article later)
I wanted to take this opportunity to send a warm revolutionary hug to all
the folks up there this May 1, and wish I could be in MacArthur Park with
      you guys on that day.
We'll be thinking of all you folks in L.A., in international working class
solidarity, in struggle, at Plaza de Mayo on Wednesday.

Muffy et al.:  Ask[ing] a few folks to show up [at the other event] with immigrant rights signs and flyers and ..." urging them to come to the "main" immiigrants right rally -- and recognizing that doing so could / would "build some kind of bond that would do us all some good in the future is one which has not only been strongly suggested many times, but also applies to the march earlier in the day for "immigration reform" (which starts at noon); usually those coming to the march come for the cause, and not for the half-horrid speeches by reformists and/or certain labor officials, and are quite receptive to different ideas / events.

After years of multiple march-rallies in multiple places for the same cause  finally there's now two united march-rallies instead of many -- one May 1 which had 8 separate L.A. rallies or march-rallies within 10K of one another. Whether the differences re objectives / politics / speakers, etc. were / are major and important enough to have two separate actions instead of one united one is a debate in itself --- "immigration reform!" is the theme of the early afternoon march, which the AFL-CIO officialdom and reform/iist organizations are publicizing, while a coalition initiated by the Southern California Immigration Coalition has a march-rally (much better / clearer focus on "Full rights for immigrants" among its demands) literally with same starting point and march route (noon and 4 p.m. starting times, respectively) although (nearby and) different end-places.

Long before I became radicalized, I learned about news about getting masses of people assembled in ONE place to DEMAND change is one of the most effective ways of not only winning one's objectives, but also putting the issue in the "spotlight" -- and (despite mass media which try to minimize and/or ignore the event/s), the more people, always the more ears and ears pay attention.

Even many of those who are not radical are aware that there has been call for a march / rally for immigrants rights in every city with a sizable immigrant population -- ESPECIALLY LOS ANGELES -- (as well as other cities, towns, etc.) every year on May 1 since 2006.  So, calls for conflicting / concurrent events caused by non-awareness of calendar-and-scheduling issues does not apply.

Immigration coalitions in L.A. Metro's surrounding cities (e.g., Santa Ana and Oxnard) have decided to hold their own events --- PUBLICIZED AS ACTIONS IN SOLIDARITY with the "main" march-rallies, figuring that the time / distance in getting to the main / central rally is too great and that having local events will mobilize more for the cause.

I am quite aware of RAC's food giveaways on Sundays at MacArthur Park.  Ironically, just this past Sunday, I came to Occupy L.A.'s food-giveaway table in order to place on its table those May 1 publicity leaflets which I had not yet then distributed -- and observed RAC with its food distribution about 50 meters away and (as has been the case for multiple months) NO conflict between either giveaway or the participants in each. (Not giving a bunch-of-leaflets to the RAC at its event is / was a matter of logistics (rows of food-boxes and no table with empty space) rather than any question whatsoever of RAC's willingness to have those leaflets distributed.)

Have no idea who this guy is.  Nor do I care.  Nor do I neither know nor
care how it is that he takes it upon himself to decide what the "best" way
