Sixto Rodriguez, the Subject of "Searching For Sugarman"
Will Be LIVE on KPFK 90.7 FM
      Tuesday, January 15th - Noon to 1:00

Join Global Village host Betto Arcos this Tuesday, January 15th from 12
Noon-1:00 PM when he welcomes to the KPFK Studios, recording artist Sixto
Rodriguez & Malik Bendjelloul, Film Director of the Academy Award Nominated
      documentary "Searching For Sugarman"!

In 1970, singer-songwriter Sixto Rodriguez released his debut album "Cold
Fact" to little fanfare in the U.S. and the story could have ended there.
But the L.P. found its way to South Africa's underground where the
anti-establishment punch sparked rebellious young Afrikaners at the dawn of
      the anti-Apartheid movement.
The Rodriguez album was widely bootlegged and traded, and the prophetic
music fueled the conscience of a powerless youth, despite the fact that
Rodriguez's life and whereabouts were a mystery. It took nearly 30 years
before he was rediscovered, right at home in Detroit, Michigan.

If you haven't yet seen "Searching For Sugarman" - go see it ASAP.
I think it is only playing at the Laemmle's Music Hall 3 in Beverly Hills.
This is one of the best movies I have ever seen.
If you like music, don't miss this great film.
