Quarterly Los Angeles River Bike Tours
floats downstream to Compton Creek.
This tour will take us in and around Compton Creek, a tributary of the Los Angeles River.
Sunday, April 13th-10am
leaving from the
Del Amo Blue Line Station, Rancho Dominguez
The Compton Creek tour will be challenging. We will be crossing some difficult terrain in and around the Creek and investigating areas not yet entirely suited for bikes.
No road bikes! The terrain is rugged and can only be negotiated by a hybrid or mountain bike.
The soft-bottom of the creek is rather scenic and we are sure to see some wonderful bird and plant life. The casual paced tour is less than 10 miles and will be about 1 to 1 ½ hours. Please bring water, wear sunscreen and a bike helmet. The cost is free.
Meet in the parking lot of the Del Amo Blue Line Station, Thomas Guide page 765, grid B-4.
By train: Take the Blue Line to Del Amo.
By auto: 710 Freeway to Del Amo, head west, station is on the left.
Sponsored by the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition, Friends of the Los Angeles River and North East Trees
