      Sorry to hear it Jon,

If the board is broken, then you're right, it's likely to be unfixable (at least in any professional kind of way) so I wouldn't be comfortable accepting it as a swap out. The boards are impossible to get new, and the last time I made enquiries Korg were quoting over $900 for one, which is ridiculous. Perhaps your best option would be to find another unit on eBay?

Alternatively if you find a 'cheap' board on eBay, then it might be able to be repaired. There are several known issues with them, and generally the repairs require a lot of specialist skills to do properly. I've done several myself including replacing the DSP chips for customers, but in my opinion it is very difficult. It's a 2 - 4 Hr job even for an experienced electronics repairman.

      Good luck.

      SH

well I dont know how you would want to work it out, except for the fact that the corner of the board is cracked thru the circuits the ms 2000 I have only had about 50 hours on it, that being said the klm 2167 I have been told is un fixable, but all the chips and other parts are undamaged, how much are you thinking as far as a price on the board? i want one that I know will work when I put it back in, I have seen them sell on e-bay for 10- 30 dollars but were called projects...? I know it is time consuming to repair one so I don't know where to start as far as an offer, but I will send you the broken one in the deal, I know all the parts work its just that the corner of the board cracked all the way thru the connecting lines or what ever they are called. I did find one for 9 dollars but I would have to put one of the chips from my old one on it, and Im not a technician by any definition, I can solder and such things, and even burn simple boards, but this thing is crazy...any how let me know, 928-200-4107... if it runs to much cash I could replace the whole thing cheap on e-bay and part it out to pay for it, I am surprised at how much some of the small parts sell for there, thanks ...Jon (Im in Flagstaff Arizona)

      Hello there,

I'm a hobbyist / service technician that restores vintage instruments in Sydney Australia.

I have a replacement main board for the Korg MS-2000 (KLM-2167) on my workbench that I'm repairing and reconditioning.

It came to me with a blown regulator, filter capacitors and some other dead components. I'm about half way through the repair phase, with a week of testing to follow. I expect to have the board repaired, and tested within two weeks.

My plan is to offer the board for sale to Forum members, on an exchange basis. If you're interested then perhaps we could discuss how that might work and what might be a reasonable price for the service?

do any of you know a good source for replacement PCB KLM-2167 main board, for my MS 2000 the part number from the repair manual looks like it says

      part code 001216700 or (KLM-2181-/82/83)

Or PCB ASSY KLM-2167 MS 2000

its a shame because the MS 2000 has spent most of its life in storage and has less than 50 hours on the unit

I think its a design flaw not to have the power supply input just soldered on the board and not somehow reenforced to the body of the ms 2000 with a screw or something. worst case I guess I can part the unit out, but I like it and would just like to find the board, thanks, if you like you can call me if you have a quick soulution ((928)-200- 4onezero7
