Raphael , Antonio, and Laurent, what line length and number of lines did
you use in these ULTRA LIGHT conditions ??

        I normally use 40 M 2 lines with a normal bar....

One thing to watchout in all our wild claims of sailing in low wind is that
the 4 knots we are talking about are at the surface... I have had days
where there where 4 knots at the surface and maybe 6 knots 20 meters up and
I have had days where there were more like 8 kts 20 meters up.... much
        better in the second case...

to do precise measurements we would need to measure the wind 20 meters up !

I know for a fact that Raphael Salles can go out with the F-One ATK900 in approximately in 4 knots - surface measurement - he is using a F-One PE210 (210 cm long) with 40 meters. I just receive last week a few of these monsters and they do indeed fly in that little wind. I think it is important to realize that this size kite is technical to fly and require a minimum technique. At this point I would like to specify that Raphael Salles is planning and is going upwind without any problems. Apparently, Manu Bertin who was whith him did the same.

One of our local rider tried it under similar conditions and is confirming that yes it could be done. Because of his heavy weight (well above the 200 lbs,) he did require more wind (6-8 knots) to be fully powered but to go out with his Wipika he does require at least 14 knots to reach a plane (weight is an issue.)

            What board was Sylvain on?
How much line did he have?
            What is Sylvain's weight?
Were you able to go upwind?

            What is your weight?
            Was that in Marseille?

Who was on a Wipika in similar conditions?
Who was on a Naish in similar conditions?

This week, the Leucate competition is starting and most of the best international riders will be present: Cory, Elliot, Flash, Franz, Jean-Luc, Manu, Lou, Raphael, etc...

We will try to post on a daily basis if possible the results or a report of each the days. Additionally to the public who will be present, the press will report the results in their following issues. As soon as I will be back, I will add some of the pictures to the Gallery on our web site - www.KiteSurf.com

Look forward for the upcoming issues of
WindSurfing magazine (US - GB and Japan)
            Wind magazine (France)
            Planchemag (France - may be)

As most of the best riders worldwide will be presents, we should get a good idea of the performance of the equipment of each brands.

As I am the distributor of F-One in the US, I will ask the journalists present to write the content of the E-mail in order to avoid question as per my objectivity.
