      I agree with Michel that you need to keep the board relatively short and
      more critically it needs to be narrow so that you can dig the rail in
      and prevent side slip/ get better upwind performance.

      A more buoyant board will get up and plane quicker but tend to side slip
      more (particularly when water starting) as the rail will not sink into
      the water as deep. Windsurfer boards (even with centre boards) don't
      seem to "grab" enough water from my limited experience with them.

      I have found significant improvement in upwind performance by sharpening
      the rails. My personal preference is for three fins but am
      experimenting with a five fin 1.7m x 0.35m glass board that I hope to
      have out on the water in the next few weeks.

      from what I can see it depends if you want to swap your feet over when
      you jibe. I haven't tried it yet but am quite comfortable on both tacks
      with my feet staying in the same straps - it's just like skurfing or
      water-skiing! I only have two foot straps, front one at a diagonal but
      centred and the rear strap straight along the centre line.

        Hi! toms,

        I really not a specialist but I have friends that are doing kitesurf
        since sometime and,I am sure you will have more fun with the smallest
        board.

        The biggest one keep you afloat to much.
