    Hi, Some to many of you will be birding the Butterbredt Spring/Jawbone Canyon/Kelso Creek watershed and/or South Fork Valley (Kern River Preserve, etc.) areas

      Hi,

      Some to many of you will be birding the Butterbredt Spring/Jawbone
      Canyon/Kelso Creek watershed and/or South Fork Valley (Kern River
      Preserve, etc.) areas during the expected prime time, spring
      migration birding weekend of April 26 & 27.

      If you are in the South Fork area on that Saturday or the Butterbredt
      Spring/Jawbone Canyon/Kelso Creek watershed on that Sunday, your are
      invited to identify and count any butterfly species you see while you
      are birding those areas. Your butterfly species and numbers
      observations will be added to the results for the official events
      described below. Please send any results you realize and record to me
      at bbarnes@.... Thank you.

      Saturday, April 25 - 6th South Fork Kern River Valley Butterfly Count
      ***7am, Breakfast on your own or meet for breakfast (TBA, optional)
      ***8:30am, Meet at Kern River Preserve Headquarters in Weldon
      ***Bird Spring Pass, Cane Canyon, Canebrake Ecological Reserve, Cap
      Canyon, Cholla Canyon, Fay Ranch Road, Kelso Creek Road, Kelso Valley
      Road, Kern River Preserve, Onyx, Paul's Place, Scodie Canyon, Scodie
      Mountains, Short Canyon, Weldon
      ***Expected Highlight: San Emigdio Blue in numbers (well over 100
      during 2008 count)
      ***Compilation and dinner TBA at Saturday start gathering

      Sunday, April 26 - 2nd Butterbredt/Jawbone/Kelso
      ***Breakfast on your own or as announced at the conclusion of Saturday's count
      ***8:30am count staging at Kern River Preserve Headquarters
      ***Butterbredt Canyon/Butterbredt Peak/Butterbredt Spring,
      Butterbredt Canyon Road, Frog Spring, Gehringer Grade, Hoffman
      Summit, Jawbone Canyon Road , Kelso Creek Sanctuary, Kelso Valley,
      Kelso Valley Road, Landers Meadow, Mace Meadow, Mayan Peak, Piute
      Mountain Road, Sageland, Sorel Peak
      Expected Highlight: Highly diverse habitats in count circle
      ***Compilation and optional dinner TBA at Sunday start gathering
