      Regarding the 2007 America's Birdiest Inland County effort in Kern
      County, here is the preliminary list of 228 bird species reports from
      6pm, Thursday, April 26 through 6pm, Sunday, April 29, 2007. We
      should be in the running for America's Birdiest Inland County
      designation following that given Kern County in 2004 (232 species),
      2005 (226), and 2006 (246).

      SPECIES (I = Introduced) NOT YET REPORTED (Please report if you had
      any of the following during the ABC count period listed above - NOTE:
      Does not include Thursday's or Monday's festival field trips):
      Cackling Goose (present in Hart Park, Bakersfield, 13 Dec 06 through
      at least 30 Apr 07 but not found 26-29 Apr 07 ABC count
      period), Canvasback, Bufflehead, Common Goldeneye, Common Merganser,
      Red-breasted Merganser, Sooty Grouse (road snow free - forgot to make
      arrangements with Forest Service to go check!), Horned Grebe (Mo, 30
      Apr 07), Least Bittern, Bald Eagle, Ferruginous Hawk, Merlin,
      Peregrine Falcon, Black-bellied Plover, Willet, Lesser Yellowlegs,
      Long-billed Curlew, Marbled Godwit, Sanderling, Pectoral Sandpiper,
      Dunlin, Herring Gull, Least Tern, Black Tern, Spotted Dove - I
      (several recent sightings in Bakersfield), Inca Dove, Lewis's
      Woodpecker, Williamson's Sapsucker (pair found Mo, 30 Apr 07 - Troy
      Meadow, Tulare County), Brown-crested Flycatcher, Bell's Vireo (Mo,
      30 Apr 07 - Butterbredt Spring), Plumbeous Vireo (present 26+ Apr 07
      at Chimney Creek Campground, Tulare County), Clark's Nutcracker,
      Yellow-billed Magpie, Varied Thrush (present 26 Apr 07 before count
      period), Sage Thrasher, Bendire's Thrasher, Northern
      Waterthrush, Black-chinned Sparrow, Grasshopper Sparrow, Swamp
