OBSERVERS/AMWI - Brite Lake, Tehachapi
Birders might wish to visit publicly-accessible Brite Lake (and/or
Tehachapi Mountain Park) when using Hwy. 58 between Bakersfield and
Mojave. Both are less than 7 miles/15 minutes off Hwy. 58, and may be
combined if more than a short birding break is desired. NOTE: The
perimeter of the lake is open to pedestrians, including the top of
the dam. The ominous signs at the start of the dam are directed at
vehicles, not pedestrians. There is a walk-through gate.
