      YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO - 4 individuals (2 in Sequoia National Forests South Fork
      Wildlife Area - YBCU researchers, 1 just west of Kern River Preserve
      Headquarters parking lot - Susan Steele, 1 along the river north of the Kern
      River Preserve Nature Trail at signpost #11 - Susan Steele.). Present in
      numbers ten days to three weeks earlier than most years.

      LEAST FLYCATCHER - Singing bird still present at Kern River Preserve. John
      Wilson will be sending out a note on his observation this morning.

      BROWN-CRESTED FLYCATCHER - Scarce this year thus far. Only one or two pairs
      detected at east end of Kern River Preserve and west of KRP Headquarters 0.5
      miles.

      SUMMER TANAGER - Common, but numbers seem down this year.

      INDIGO BUNTING - 2 males at east end of Kern River Preserve.

      LAWRENCE'S GOLDFINCH - Common. 194 individuals in three areas on the Kern
      River
      Preserve.

      VERY FEW LATE SPRING MIGRANTS: Willow Flycatcher 13 (number of migrants
      undetermined as some were migrants and some were local nesters);
      Phainopepla 3;
      Wilson's Warbler 1; Black-headed Grosbeak 9;...

      NUMBERS OF SELECTED SPECIES:
      Black-chinned Hummingbird - 100+ at Preserve feeders
      Anna's Hummingbird - 100+ at Preserve feeders
      Yellow Warbler - 126 individuals counted by three groups
      Common Yellowthroat - 64 individuals counted by three groups
      Yellow-breasted Chat - 9 individuals counted by two groups
      Song Sparrow - 358 individuals counted by three groups
      Summer Tanager - 12 individuals counted by three groups
      Blue Grosbeak - 37 individuals counted by three groups
      Lazuli Bunting - 51 individuals counted by three groups
      Lawrence's Goldfinch - 193 individuals counted by three groups
