      LOCATION: California Department of Fish & Game's Canebrake Ecological
      Reserve (CER), 15 miles east of Onyx, Kern County
      TIME/DAY/DATE: 5:30am-9am, Sunday, June 1, 2008
      OBSERVER: Bob Barnes, Ridgecrest, Kern County, California
      ROUTE: CER Public Access Trail parking lot, Public Access Trail to
      4-way gate, upriver for c. 800m

      HIGHLIGHT: COMMON NIGHTHAWK (Flyover heading north toward the South
      Fork Kern River Canyon, called several times, 1st record for CER, a
      rarely seen species on the Kern River Valley floor)

      CONSPICUOUSLY ABSENT: Red-tailed Hawk, American Kestrel, Black
      Phoebe!, Western Bluebird!, Lark Sparrow,...

      LOW NUMBERS THIS YEAR: Tree Swallow
