      Hi Quilters!

Today at the Cabin : All the folks on my gardening and homesteading lists are talking about starting their seeds. And getting out into the gardens. And, and, and... <insert whine>. Not us here. Nope, the snow keeps on coming. As the weather does get a tad bit warmer, (still quite a bit below freezing), more snow comes. As the sun shines a bit higher in the sky every day, more snow comes. And as the light stays a bit longer every day, more snow comes. Sigh .....

You may have noticed that we were down from Friday until Monday. HUGE upgrades, updates and even HUGER (is that even a word?) frustration. But it's all done now.

And yes, I'm going to put a big pot of soup on the woodstove and let it simmer all day. Dinner's at 6.

Sisters Common Threads and March themed patterns are featured this week.

Q: How do you piece batting together to make a long strip? Do you zigzag it together flat or use a seam?

K: I think you should overlap and then zig zag. You could butt them together but the zig zag stitch may not catch both edges. It is best to overlap.

      • Pin the fabric pieces together. With a ruler and a washable fabric marker, draw a diagonal line in the center
      • from corner to corner. Continue drawing diagonal lines 3/4" of an inch apart until you have marked the entire
      • square.
      • With a sewing machine, stitch along all of the marked diagonal lines.
      • Using a rotary cutter, cut the center of each row. (Do NOT cut the bottom piece)
      • Once all of the rows have been cut, machine wash and dry the fabric piece.
