Hi Quilters! Is April flying by or what?? Before we know it summer will be here in full force. On days like this when it's blustery and blowy, summer doesn't seem so close, but remember, without these drizzly days, the bright spring skies don't seem quite so nice!
Do you LOVE beaded quilts? So do we! Read on and find out about a quilter who is combining her beading and quilting skills to raise money for breast cancer with her Bead It Forward Project!

Quilting Question of the Week....
Q: I have to travel on a long trip and wonder what is the best way to pack my fabric and quilts to keep them safe?
K: The best rule of thumb is to let the fabric breathe. Don't pack tightly in plastic bags and such. If the fabric needs to be protected, put it inside pillowcases.
Q: How do you trim a baby quilt with satin?
K: If you use a wide satin ribbon, fold the ribbon in half, lengthwise, wrong sides together and press. Encase the edge of the quilt inside the folded satin and topstitch.
Tips and Humor From Kaye....How Many UFOs Do You Have?
Some of you have a lot of UFOs (Un-Finished Objects); some have none; most of you have a few. Your personality type has a big influence on the way you approach your quilts.
If you have to finish one project before starting another, you have my sympathy. I like change, so I like to have several projects in the works; that way, I can work on whichever one talks to me that day.
I often hear "I will be so glad when this quilt is finished; then I never want to see it again."
Quilting is supposed to be fun and a stress reliever. My philosophical thought for the day: Some quilts do not deserve to be finished!

Show 'N Tell....
Call For Entries....This is my "New Wave" quilt. Ever buy a bunch of fat quarters you love, but they're too pretty to cut up? This is a fun way to showcase them without cutting them up too small. I enjoyed sewing this quilt, and then it was fun practicing a different free motion or machine stitch in each row.....Sheila
Made my son's dog a quilt out of scraps from my son's quilt. Bo loves his quilt....Ellen
"Circles of Black, Circles of White 3" - the third in a series of art quilts embellished with buttons and beads.
Jeanette Shanigan, a designer-artist, teacher and author of numerous beading books, lost her mother in 1985 after a long battle with breast cancer. Since then, Jeanette has been donating her efforts to raising money and awareness for researching a cure. Jeanette founded the Bead-It-Forward Beaded Quilts Project in 2006. With the contribution of 31 beadwork artists, Jeanette created a quilt from one-inch butterfly-themed beaded squares and donated it to the Bead Artists Against Breast Cancer (BAABC) auction, held during the Bead Social at the Bead and Button Show in June. In that first year, the beaded quilt brought in over $1,000. Check it out HEREShow and Tell Pages and our Pinterest Boards!
