Teach forIndia : Changing the face of Young India
The Teach for India Movement draws its inspiration from the Teach for America Movement that began two decades back. The movement is aimed at bridging the educational gap that prevails inIndia by placing outstanding college graduates and college professionals in low-income schools, who are involved in full time teaching for two years. While targeting at the eradication of inequality in education, this initiative is also creating lifelong leaders, who will excel in a variety of areas, by providing them with intensive training and support throughout the two years. The Teach for India mission follows the common vision of providing every child in India with excellent education.
Teach for India is working in collaboration with many well known Multinational Organizations and world-renowned universities. They recently proposed interest in working with UB Engineering. On their request, a team of our Human Resource professionals made short visit to one of their classrooms, where they interacted with the under privileged children, and distributed goodies to them. Young dynamic professionals from MNCs and graduates and postgraduates have quit brighter career prospects to sign up for this cause, and bring about a change in the educational scenario of India .
It was a great experience for some of us to have visited some of the schools running under the Teach forIndia initiative.
Young professionals from UBEL, who are interested in participating in volunteering activities in TFI classrooms, and in fundraising activities such as marathons, cyclothons, and tax saving challenge, are requested to contact the HR Team.
A colourful Holi !
The HR team visited a rehabilitation centre for mentally retard residential school named as DNYANGANGOTRI on the occasion of Holi and distributed sweets amongst the children.
"Dnyangangotri" was established in 2001 in Pune, with the objective to rehabilitate the mentally challenged/retarded children. It's a non-government funded residential school. It has been observed that many such children in remote rural areas are deprived of basic education. This realization prompted Kasbe family to do something to help this underprivileged class of the society and it gave birth to Dnyangangotri. Dnyangangotri is a free residential school for mentally challenged children in the age group 6 to 18 years.
It is located near Dhayri village in Pune, Maharashtra , India . Currently, there are 50 children in the school. They train the children in basic skills like making Diwali lamps, candles, greeting cards etc. which might help them in becoming self reliant in the future. If you would like to give donation, clothes, sweets or any other contribution to the above institute, please contact the HR Team.
