      Training Programme on
      Market Research for Microfinance Managers

      15-17 April 2009

The Indian Microfinance fraternity is deliberating issues of breadth, depth and impact of services. Many stakeholders are making efforts to enhance quality of products and services being offered to clients. Due to a large population of people out-of-reach of the formal financial system, however, the supply side potential remains immense. This makes it tougher to catalyze a transition from supply driven to demand driven growth. There is a need to sensitize and capacitate microfinance practitioners towards understanding the market in greater detail and appreciating specific needs of customers. Market research, a widely accepted and employed science to collect and analyze relevant data about customers, competitors and markets, has found limited usage in Microfinance.

Microfinance Connect, in association with Sambodhi Research and Communications, announces a Training Programme on "Market Research for Microfinance Managers" from 15-17 April 2009 at Hyderabad. Sambodhi's earlier programmes have been subscribed by leading agencies viz. Accion, APMAS, BASIX, BISWA, CARE India, CRS, EDA Rural Systems, GTZ, Intellecap, Oxfam GB, Swadhaar FinAccess, SKS Microfinance, UNDP, UNICEF and USAID among others.

Specifically, the training is aimed at:

      • Creating appreciation of the need, rationale and purpose for which market research may be used    in Microfinance
      • Augment the understanding of the principles and processes involved in conducting market   research for Microfinance
      • Imparting knowledge on the techniques used in key components of the market research process
      • Enhancing skills for analysis and interpretation of data generated as a result of market research   for informed decision making
Upon completion of training, the participants would be able to use Market Research tools to:
      • Design and execute market research for exploring business opportunities
      • Profile and segment existing and potential consumers
      • Comprehend consumer preferences and gauge product value
      • Establish client satisfaction benchmarks and undertake benchmarking
      INR 10,000
      USD 350
      Euro 250
Training fees includes tuition fee, reading material, lunch at the training venue and other training expenses. Outstation candidates are encouraged to make their own arrangements for boarding and lodging. Sambodhi can make these arrangements on actual payment basis.
