    Dear Friend,

We invite you to the Jeevan Vidya Shivir (an educational workshop), to be held from 21 to 28 June, 2014 (both days inclusive) at IIIT Hyderabad. The shivir is a platform for discussing a wide range of issues like Education, Reality, Happiness, Success, Aspirations and gaining an understanding on Our Nature, Relationships, Environment, Social Issues, and Self-Confidence. Do they sound relevant to you? In the shivir we will have a detailed and lengthy discussion on these, and in the process try to find a holistic and sustainable solution in the light of Jeevan Vidya.

A note is attached about what a philosophy must include and how we can evaluate a philosophy. This note will help in getting an idea of the Jeevan Vidya philosophy, and will also throw light on the kind of workshop one may expect. Please do spend time in reading the note.

Workshop will be conducted by Prof. Ganesh Bagaria and Prof. Ramancharla Pradeep Kumar.

    About the Prabodhaks:
Professor Ganesh Bagaria from Manaviya Siksha Sanskar Sansthan (MSSS)Kanpur, will conduct the shivir. He, besides being an activist from his student days in IIT-Kanpur is a pioneer in combining our tradition and values with education.

He taught electronics and communication at Harcourt Butler.s Technical Institute (HBTI), Kanpur for a period of 2 decades and took voluntary retirement from service in 2012 to work for Human Values full time. He has a deep understanding of Western as well as Indian Philosophy. His research interests apart from theory of electronic communication are (1) understanding of Human being, Human conduct and Human civilization, and (2) commitment to work for its realisation.

He is an admired teacher and has an ardent student following, relating to all aspects of life. His extreme simplicity and remarkable insight makes him a suitable person for conducting the workshop.

Ramancharla Pradeep Kumar is Professor of Civil Engineering. He is Head of Earthquake Engineering Research Centre at IIIT Hyderabad. Dr. Ramancharla is leading an active research group of around 35 people. He is presently supervising 12 Ph.D/MS by Research students.

He has contributed in a major way in introducing an essential course on Human Values to UG students. Till now he has conducted over 50 workshops of 3-8 days duration and over 100 guest lectures on Human Values. His dream is to take Value Education to all people in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

    How to sign-up:

Send email to the JV-Team at humanvalues@... with your Name and Contact num. or call Surya Bhagavan at 099480 10253. Places are limited, so prior registration is necessary. If you know any friend, colleague or family member who would also be interested in attending, please feel free to forward the details.

    Cost of the Workshop:
This workshop is conducted with a feeling born out of responsibility, so there is no "fee" for the workshop. However, the cost of boarding for each participant comes to about Rs.300 per head/per day and the cost of food comes to Rs.150/- per day. Nobody is ever denied participation in the workshop due to inability to make a payment.
