      The Election Commission announced the dates for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections-the biggest democratic exercise in the world! So let's take a look at it through 7 crazy numbers.

      11 Million strong election machinery to be deployed to make sure the voting and counting processes happen smoothly.
       
      The whole election exercise will be over in 72 days, 3 days less than the last elections.
       
      There has been a remarkable increase in the enrolment of electors in the age group of 18 to 19 years. Over 23 million electors are in this age group. Electors in the age group of 18 to 19 years now constitute 2.88% of total electors, against 0.75% in 2009.
       
      Counting of votes in all the 543 Lok Sabha constituencies will be held on a single day on May 16.
       
      The maximum limit of election expenses for a Lok Sabha Constituency is Rs.70 lakh per candidate for all States except Arunachal Pradesh, Goa and Sikkim.
       
      Approximately 9,30,000 polling stations in the country,12% more than the last election.
       
      The total electorate is approximately 81.4 crore. The increase is about 10 crores as compared to last general election.
