Please distribute to local ARES groups and clubs
The Michigan Net ("QMN") - National Weather Service Rain Gauge Network data is now available to the public in the form of a NWS Public Information Statement.
Thanks to the assistance of Steve Wallgreen at the Grand Rapids NWS Office, automated software has been developed that automatically accepts the QMN rain gauge data via computer, converts the format, and transmits the compiled data via the NWS data network and NOAA Weather Wire Service.

The Michigan Net - National Weather Service Rain Gauge Network utilizes Amateur Radio volunteers throughout Michigan to collect weather observations on both a routine and emergency basis. These observations are transmitted via the QMN Networks to specially trainined and equipped key stations that compile the observations for delivery to the National Weather Service.
