      ICF Issues Letter to Thai Prime Minister: Do Not Repatriate Burmese Refugees!

      During a speech in September in New York, Thai Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya stated that, upon his return to Bangkok, he would “launch a more comprehensive program for the Myanmar (Burmese) people in the camps, the displaced persons, the intellectuals that run around the streets of Bangkok and Chiang Mai Province, to prepare them to return to Myanmar (Burma) after the elections” on Nov. 7 in Burma. Although the Thai government later reversed this decision, ICF distributed a letter on Oct. 14 to its School of Peace (SOP) alumni and encouraged them to send it to Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva.
