      This one goes back a ways, but I just stumbled across the document I was
      thinking of when I originally replied. It's called 'Field Manual No. 5-499 -
      Hydraulics. Department of the Army' and can be found at various locations by
      simply Googling for "FM 5-499". There is a particularly complete copy
      available as a .pdf at http://www.derijcke.com/dl/manual.pdf . At 173 pages
      (with a substantial number of illustrations) it makes a pretty good
      reference.

      These were originally available without restriction from
      http://www.adtdl.army.mil/ but I see they want some sort of Army affiliation
      to be able to access their library now. Perhaps it'll still be of use to
      someone out there...
