  • We flew from northwest Ark. to Mammoth Lakes via L.A. It worked well. We used a local private shuttle from Mammoth to YV which was reasonable, on time, and took us right to the backpacker's campground. Then our return flight from Mammoth was canceled and we had to fly out of Reno. Fortunately we had a ride, but otherwise that would have sucked. Reno is a long haul from Lone Pine. I...

  • Our flight connections into Mammoth through LAX are a little snug. And we're scheduled to shuttle directly from Mammoth to YV for a GP start the following day. So we'd like to avoid checking our packs if possible. Problem is, to meet carry on space restrictions, we have to carry the packs and canisters separately.
