  • I saw some pictures earlier today on the JMT Facebook pages that showed a hell of a lot of smoke in LeConte Canyon. Visibility was maybe less than 1/2 mile? • If you live in the SF Bay area I use to go to this place. I bought some netting from them to make storage bags. Otherwise you could probably buy frabric from any repair place. http://outdoorrepairs.blogspot.com/ On Wed, Aug 12, 2015 at 12:39 PM, longritchie < no_reply@^$1 > wrote: You can buy the materials from thru-hiker.com . • It's been a long time since I did the the Sonora Crest. When I dropped down off of the crest into Kennedy Canyon I missed the creek crossing, and so did a lot of other people before me. If it happens just pull out the map. It's easy to find your way back. Kim On Mon, Aug 10, 2015 at 5:46 PM, charliepolecat < no_reply@^$1 > wrote: Nice photos and report, thanks Kim.

  • The first 8 miles of the PCT south of Sonora Pass is one of my favorites. It climbs up to about 10,600 ft and stays there going back and forth on the crest for about 6 miles before dropping down. • Considering that the trail was starting to be hard to follow south of Hemlock back in the early 90's I'm not surprised. Just not enough people hiking it to keep it established. I thought it made a nice loop hike from Yosemite to the Postpile and back. • I agree, its probably the Willow Fire. I doubt it'll ever be a factor except for the smoke. To send Roleigh a message you need to go to the link for his position. I just replied back to him as to where Oakhurst was.
