You could also pick up your resupply at the Onion Valley trailhead. They have bear boxes that you can stash a resupply in or ship it to the pack station andnztube
For PCT sections under 500 miles including Donohue Pass, I think that it makes sense to hike northbound. Last year, Inyo issued a permit to me starting at theravi_jmt2013
