Spot rescue near Lake Virginnia
- "Meanwhile, the sheriff's office rescued one man from the High Sierra Wednesday after the sheriff's office received a "spot activation" signal from the area of Lake Virginia. That is a signal that can be sent by a backpacker to a satellite if the hiker finds himself in trouble.
The hikers were a father and son who sent the signal when the father started having serious medical issues, according to the sheriff's office. The father was taken to a hospital in Mammoth Lakes and his condition is unknown."
SAR people busy up there. Apparently still looking for the 4 women lost and smoke is making that search more difficult. If they had a Spot, rather than a cell phone, they'd be out by now.
