Disclosed vs. undisclosed member e-mails
- Most of our members have e-mail addresses that are shown on their postings. This allows other members to reply privately to a poster, if the topic seems more appropriate for off-board communications (e.g., "Really appreciated your thoughts on sleeping pads"). This can have advantages both to the poster (enjoying getting a compliment) and to the Group (by reducing the number of messages).
If you are a Member who chose to keep your e-mail private when you joined the group, but are now willing to change your settings to allow Yahoo to display your e-mail address, go to this link
Go down to the Heading "Email Address Display" and uncheck the box. Your e-mail address will now appear on your posts and Members and Moderators can reply to you off-board.
If you prefer to keep your e-mail private, that's also fine. The privacy protection is pretty strong. Not even the moderators can see an e-mail address if you check the box requesting email address privacy. Some groups disallow hiding the member's email address but we have decided to allow that option. We fear that some new members may feel uncomfortable displaying their email address for whatever reason and might not join us otherwise. Warning: if you try to join the group without disclosing your e-mail and we aren't sure whether you are "legit", the lack of an e-mail address prevents us from following up with you to make sure you aren't a spambot.
