      If you've already got a permit to leave the morning after you arrive, then there's certainly no harm in walking into the permit office and seeing if you can change it to leave that very afternoon. 

      No idea on the odds of you succeeding unless you account for the conditions––you might be heading into just enough snow coverage to discourage other walk-in hikers from showing up. 

      Just don't forget a good pair of gaiters and poles. (and extra socks)
