Mountain Education's Courses are finally posted for 2012! http://www.mountaineducation.org/mountain-education-pages/courses/

We are offering wilderness skills training courses for high sierra hiking in the following categories, Winter/Spring Snow, Summer Snow/Dry Trail, Summer Backpacking, and the all-conditions, Mountain Man graduate course! The point of the courses is to give you the safety skills to enable longer stays in the wilderness, meaning more time soaking up fun while playing safe!

      1. Winter/Spring Snow offerings:

      - Snow Camping and Travel Basics:  the "Snow Basics Course" or SBC
(3-day weekend basecamp trips into Desolation Wilderness)

      - Snow Travel Intermediate:  the "Snow Intermediate Course" or SIC
(moderate mileage, moving each day over snow along the PCT in Desolation like during a thru hike)

      - Snow Travel Advanced:  the "Snow Advanced Course" or SAC
(moving daily at 10 mpd along the PCT or JMT at their highest elevations in Kings Canyon and Sequoia NPs)

      2. Summer Snow/Dry Trail mixed:

      - Backpacking Intermediate:  the "Mountain Intermediate Course" or MIC
(moving daily at 10 mpd along the PCT/TRT from Echo Pass to Donner Pass)

      - Backpacking Advanced:  the "Mountain Advanced Course" of MAC
(a 10-day high altitude sojourn from Kearsarge Pass to Bishop Pass in June/July, prime thru timing)

      3. Summer Backpacking:

      - Backpacking Basics:  the "Mountain Basics Course" or MBC
(3-day weekend basecamp trips along or near the Tahoe Rim Trail)

      - Backpacking Intermediate: one MIC in August that ought to have dry trail

      4. and the Mountain Man Course or MMC
(a 10-day cross-country and trail trek of half the Sierra High Route, our all-skills-applied graduate course )

Full course descriptions may not be up yet, but this is a starter.

Also, the Application page is not up yet, but until that is finalized, just email us the Courses and dates you want and we will confirm your reservation and what to do from there.
