      Problem is the exit quota - doesn't matter if you can get a permit for Shepherd or Kearsarge alone, you also have to fit within the Trail Crest exit quota for your anticipated date of reaching the summit.

      Only the ranger station in LP or Bishop can tell you.

      Kearsarge is an easy 3+ day trip, Shepherd is a little faster since you skip Forester, but you have a much tougher pass to climb initially to get into Sequoia. Anything further north would be too far for most to complete in the number of days you are looking at.
