Been meaning to post this for a while––another hotel to stay in for the night, or more:

The Renoir is on Market Street (but you enter on McAllister Street) and a it's a straight shot of about 12-15 fast blocks to get to the AMTRAK office, located on the Embarcadero (at the end of Market) you also have several easy options on Market:

Walk: just head down market street until it basically dead ends, cross the plaza to the Ferry building, then turn right and the Amtrak Office is just there, around the south end of the ferry building. Walking I'd give a good 30 minutes, but it's more like 15-20 . . .

Cab: good idea just to have them zip you to the end of market and then make your way as a "walker" . . . otherwise the cab driver may go into "I don't understand" mode and drive you to who knows where. Also, just to get you in front of the AMTRAK the cab would have to make a few small, costly detours.

Bus: some of the buses on market go all the way to the end, and others turn off at about 2nd Street and you're left to either catch another bus or cab or . . . get lost

Underground: both MUNI and the BART stop at Embarcadero. Get off, go upstairs, street level and head for the Ferry Building.

Lots of Europeans tourists there, saving a few bucks and catching some of the fine urban flavors of the market street/tenderloin area (in  other words, at night, keep your eyes open)
